Tyre manufacturer Hankook and Schmitz Cargobull AG, Europe’s leading manufacturer of truck trailers, are extending their cooperation. The innovative manufacturing and intelligent production technologies used by the company, which specializes in the production of semitrailers for heavy-duty trucks, set benchmarks for especially efficient transport solutions. Hankook TBR trailer tyres have been available as original fitment tyres for years as premium products for all Schmitz Cargobull trailer types. In addition to the long-term extension of delivery contracts, the two companies have now also agreed on their future strategic cooperation on an international level.

Premium tyre manufacturer Hankook will deliver its state-of-the-art, particularly environmentally friendly and efficient TBR trailer tyres which have been adapted to European conditions, including the Hankook series e-cube/e-cube MAX and SmartWork, as original fitment tyres to Schmitz Cargobull AG in future as well. The two companies recently signed and sealed details of their further long-term cooperation. Horstmar-based Schmitz Cargobull AG is Europe’s market leader in the truck trailer segment. The original fitment business with Hankook TBR trailer tyres for Schmitz Cargobull will initially concentrate on the European market and currently covers 9 trailer sizes in the 19.5 and 22.5 inch range, including the new mega-trailer size 455/40 R 22.5 of the efficient Hankook e-cube MAX series. All Hankook tyres are delivered directly to the company’s manufacturing site.

Hankook premium truck tyres are fitted to the award-winning Schmitz Cargobull trailers for national and international heavy duty traffic. The Hankook tyres used include the e-cube and e-cube MAX series for international long-haul traffic, which have been optimized particularly in terms of rolling resistance, as well as the Hankook SmartWork series for construction businesses, for example. Specially adapted for the respective application, the designated tread patterns score particularly in the areas of environmental friendliness and service life – relevant for the increasingly important aspect of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) in the transport business.

“In addition to the use of our modern truck tyres by globally leading truck manufacturers as original equipment, the expansion of our cooperation with Schmitz Cargobull AG is further proof of the recognition of our high product quality and innovative strength. It will give us a further boost for the expansion of our pan-European activities in this segment,”
says Ho-Youl Pae, Hankook Tire COO for Europe. “We are extremely pleased to be intensifying our cooperation even further and are proud of the fact that our tyres and services meet the requirements of the market leader in terms of performance, efficiency and sustainability,” adds Dietmar Olbrich, Vice-President Marketing and Sales for the German-speaking markets.

“The further and long-term extension of the strategic partnership with Hankook is the right logical step for us, since Hankook’s strategy supplements the SCB strategy,”
says Bernhard Schmitz, managing partner at Schmitz Cargobull AG. “We feel that the long-term cooperation with Hankook will support our premium products so that we can deliver optimum transport solutions to our customers,” adds Alain Versace, Head of Tyre Business Development at the company.
