On-Board Unit Offers Easy Toll Payments in Norway, Denmark and Sweden

With its new BroBizz® Box, UNION TANK Eckstein GmbH & Co. KG (UTA) is now offering an on-board unit (OBU) that can be used to pay tolls in Norway, Denmark and Sweden. The box calculates and pays tolls for the use of roads, tunnels, bridges and ferries in Norway and those payable for the use of bridges in Denmark and Sweden. This allows UTA customers to pay the tolls for over 50 toll stations quickly and automatically as they drive past.

As of January 1, 2015, commercial vehicles in Norway weighing over 3.5 tonnes in total must have an OBU for the purposes of paying road tolls. With the BroBizz® Box, drivers can pass toll stations more quickly and more easily. Not only does the box guarantee the automatic calculation and payment of road tolls, it can also be used to pay charges for tunnels, bridges and ferry trips in Norway and for bridges such as the Storebælt bridge (DK), the resund bridge (DK-SE) or the Svinesund bridge (SE-NO). In Denmark and Sweden, vehicles weighing over 12 tonnes must still pay the road tolls with the Eurovignette, which can also be booked through UTA.

“With the BroBizz® Box, our customers can fulfil the legal requirements and reduce expenses at the same time”, explains Kay Otte, Marketing Director at UTA. “Thus, we have added a further OBU to our product range that we can offer our customers as an interoperable solution based on their individual needs.” Fixed installation of the device is not necessary as it is battery operated. Therefore, switching it from one vehicle to another is no problem. UTA customers using the BroBizz® Box can enjoy discounts of up to 13 percent on the cash price in many locations.
