Logistics BusinessWireless Charging System for e-Forklifts

Delta, a global leading provider of power solutions, showcased its latest MOOVair 30 kW Wireless Charging System for e-forklifts during LogiMAT Stuttgart 2023. The System features advanced contactless power transmission and Delta’s 50-plus years of expertise in high-efficiency power electronics, to charge electric forklifts with up to 95% peak efficiency. It is the ideal solution to boost the rapid demand for electric forklifts in fast-growing smart factories across the world. MOOVair helps solve the common need for additional manpower to plug in, unplug and perform constant maintenance in traditional charging equipment.

Alistair Coltart, Director of Delta Industrial Battery Charging Solutions, said “Delta’s unparalleled leadership in energy efficiency derives from our commitment to innovation as we commonly invest over 8% of our revenues into R&D. For many years, our research team has been dedicated to efficient and cutting-edge wireless charging solutions. With state-of-the-art contactless power transmission technology, our new 30 kW Wireless Charging System provides an innovative solution to solve the issues of wired charging. It is applicable to both manned and unmanned industrial e-vehicles, but for the unmanned ones in particular, our solutions can achieve full automation for clients.”

The 30 kW Wireless Charging System, built on technology developed by WiTricity® and licensed by Delta, is composed of a primary unit, which is connected to the AC supply, and an onboard unit for forklift battery connection. The system allows automatic wireless charging over a gap of up to 150 mm for various batteries, sparing connector wear and maintenance costs. It has a wallplug-to-battery efficiency of up to 95%, better than traditional wired charging. The 30 kW Wireless Charging System also features CANopen® control interface for real-time communication with equipment and can connect to Ethernet for warehouse management system integration to achieve automatic and 24/7 operation for e-forklift equipment manufacturers.

During the LogiMAT show, Delta did demonstrate solutions such as the MOOVair 1 kW & 3.3 kW wireless charging systems, MOOVbase stationary charging systems, MOOVon onboard solutions, motion and control systems for AGVs, as well as automation products and systems for cranes and other logistics devices.
