Logistics BusinessRyder upgrades AB Texel fleet to Euro 6

Ryder has supplied 10 DAF XF 460 6×2 Euro 6 tractor units on contract hire to Whittlesey-based agricultural haulier AB Texel to replace a number of ageing Renaults in its fleet. The Dutch-owned company is one of Europe’s largest agricultural and haulage contractors with a fleet of more than 450 trucks based in Holland.

The new DAFs will operate coupled to lightweight bulk trailers to provide a 30 tonne load capacity on AB Texel’s nationwide 24/7 operation for the collection of potatoes from farmers for delivery to processing plants.

“We had been a customer of Hill Hire for a number of years,”
comments David Eady, managing director, “so when Ryder acquired them, we could enjoy the operational, back-up and service benefits of partnering with one of the UK’s largest contract hire providers. Our trucks run nationwide so the service and support we receive from Ryder is a major factor in helping us to maintain our collection and delivery schedules.”

Robin White, Ryder’s sales and marketing director, comments: “AB Texel is an excellent example of the partnerships we’ve formed with an increasing number of agricultural hauliers where Ryder’s nationwide service and support plays a key role in keeping their operation moving. These new Euro 6 tractors will allow the company to enjoy the benefits of the latest technology, as well as improved brand presence.”
