A new logistics facility has been built at Yaroslavl, about 250km north-east of Moscow. It is intended by arvato SCM Solutions for international brands in the fashion and beauty industries. The new distribution centre, designed as a multi-user system, is heavily focused on companies who intend to grow their retail, e-commerce or omnichannel business in Russia.

“The new logistics building is part of our overall strategy in Russia, which is rooted in the strong growth of existing and potential new customers in this area,” Michael Pötschke, CEO of arvato Russia.

The company has been active in Russia for 17 years and already operates three distribution centres in Yaroslavl. It says the highly accessible logistics location features ideal supply chain conditions, especially for Moscow, where short delivery times are particularly important. Approximately 80 million B2C items are stored on 70,000 sqm of floor space. Up to 65,000 orders can be processed daily. Michael Pötschke explains, “The new facilities have been built to the most modern industry standards and are designed to provide our customers with flexible and adaptable solutions of the highest quality.” Consequently, these new facilities also create ideal conditions for the supply chain management and e-commerce sector, the development of which is especially volatile in Russia, and is managed by arvato SCM Solutions.

In addition to the project in Russia, arvato SCM Solutions also strengthened its global network with additional logistics locations elsewhere in 2015, including in the Netherlands (Nijmegen-Gennep), Germany (Hanover-Fair and Halle- Heideloh), and Poland (Poznan-Komorniki). Furthermore, the international portfolio was expanded by the acquisition of the service provider Ogli in Turkey.
