Plans have been submitted for a distribution centre in South Gloucestershire (UK) for international parcel delivery company DPD.

The decision to open a new distribution centre at Vertex Park, Emersons Green near Bristol follows a period of growth in the UK for DPD, which it says is largely due to the success of its unique Predict service. Predict notifies customers of their one hour delivery slot in advance, so that they don’t have to wait in all day for a parcel.

The new facility is set to create over 100 new jobs and represents a significant investment in the area.

Planning has been submitted to South Gloucestershire County Council for a 68,792 sq ft unit on land owned by Taylor Wimpey. The new unit will include a distribution facility, offices, customer pick up point and van parking.

The new DPD distribution centre, which is designed to achieve BREEAM ‘very good’ standard, is the second project Stoford has worked on at Vertex Park. In December 2015 work began on a new £10 million development for ALD Automotive.

Pending planning permission, work on DPD’s new facility is set to start in summer 2016 and is expected to complete in June 2017.
