Logistics BusinessCuxport Claims Heavyweight Credentials with Vietnam Shipment

Port services specialist Rhenus Cuxport says it has showcased its heavyweight credentials in a project with major shipping business NYK Bulk & Projects. The specialist division of the Rhenus Group loaded crane parts weighing several tonnes aboard the Panama registered MS Imari for shipment from Cuxhaven to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The nature of the project meant components of the crane were consolidated in Cuxhaven from across Europe. Its strategic position, and adeptness for handling heavy loads, made Cuxport the ideal operator for handling such a specialised project, said the company.

Oliver Fuhljahn, head of automobile logistics at Cuxport and who oversaw this project, commented: “As a multi-purpose port, we’re able to successfully deliver a diverse array of projects for a variety of clients. Our recent work with NYK demonstrates our capabilities for handling oversized and very heavy freight in an efficient manner.”

Founded in 1997, the deep-water terminal is spread across 260,000 m². Operating seven days a week, the terminal is well-placed to handle an array of loads, from rolling cargo and containers to steel and automotive parts.
