XPO Logistics has signed a new contract with Lancashire-based Performance Doorset Solutions (PDS). The contract will allow the joinery specialist – acquired by Florida, USA-based Masonite Group in 2015 – to improve the efficiency of its distribution processes at a time of rapid growth. XPO Logistics will be responsible for up to 50 transports per week between factories, ports, stores and new property developments, using curtain-sided, rigid vehicles with full-closure tail lifts.

XPO Logistics already manages Masonite Group’s transport operations in Barnsley and Huthwaite. By moving PDS’s distribution to XPO Logistics, Masonite can consolidate its supply chain and improve efficiencies. One immediate benefit – the availability of an additional vehicle to deliver daily on behalf of PDS – ensures uninterrupted distribution. Factory stockpiling is no longer necessary, reducing un-invoiced items to near zero.

Andy Lisle, contract manager at XPO Logistics, said: “Our solution for PDS includes basing a transport manager at the factory to drive change and assist when onsite support is absent. The immediate improvement in compliance means that PDS can continue to focus on what they do best: provide best-in-class products to their rapidly growing customer base.”
