Logistics BusinessIMPERIAL acquires the Van den Anker Group

IMPERIAL Logistics International has taken over 100% of the shares of Van den Anker Group, the chemical logistics specialist in the Benelux area. With this acquisition IMPERIAL Logistics International is expanding its business activities in storage and distribution of packaged chemicals in the Benelux area. Both parties have agreed to maintain silence on the purchase price. “Using the expertise and financial strength of IMPERIAL, Van den Anker has the best chances of continuing to develop in its traditional markets,” says Carsten Taucke, CEO of IMPERIAL Logistics International, commenting on this deal. “IMPERIAL Logistics International has decades of experience in storage and distribution of chemicals through its subsidiary Lehnkering. This will provide synergies that enable us to expand our business in the Benelux region,” says Leon Jacobs, who will continue to manage Van den Anker.

The acquisition of Van den Anker enables IMPERIAL Logistics International to continue its process of internationalisation in chemical logistics and provides access to a distribution network, which extends throughout the Benelux countries and into the neighbouring regions of northern France and Germany. The acquired network includes four dangerous goods warehouses with a total storage capacity of approx. 100,000 pallets. Three of these warehouses are located in the Netherlands (Roosendaal I and II and at Son near Eindhoven) and one in Wetteren, near Gent, Belgium. As a result of this expansion, IMPERIAL will be able to offer storage facilities for almost every class of hazardous goods in the Benelux region.

“Those customers, for whom proximity to the mainports of Rotterdam and Antwerp is vitally important, the new business location in Roosendaal will be beneficial. “In addition to our current storage facility at the port of Rotterdam, we now have further pallet spaces at the new business site 50 km away; this will be ideal for overseas imports and exports of hazardous goods”
, says Hans Van den Bosch, looking into the near future. Van den Bosch is Director Warehousing & Distribution International within the Chemicals business unit of IMPERIAL Logistics International.

The takeover also includes a fleet of distribution vehicles, which enables next-day delivery of packaged hazardous goods through the hub and spoke system. Additional services like labelling, repackaging, constructing display stands, unloading IBCs at customers’ premises or the return and disposal of packaging materials are all part of the daily operations – supported by innovative IT solutions, that are part of the package too.
