Logistics BusinessCool-Chain Provider Expands Cut-Flower Offering

Cool-chain logistics specialist Thermotraffic has expanded its offer for temperature-controlled inner European transportation of cut flowers with a short shelf life. It comprises product-specific transportation of fresh flowers and is aimed at customers in Europe. Transportation between destinations is carried out by truck at a constant temperature between +2° and +6° Celsius.

Thermotraffic focuses its new activities on overland transportation between the classical flower markets in the Netherlands and Germany. Another focus is the continued transportation of cut flowers flown into Frankfurt airport from abroad. A centralised dispatch center coordinates and supervises transportation until delivery.

To guarantee shelf life and keep delivery times at a minimum, Thermotraffic deploys two drivers on longer distances. Time loss due to mandatory breaks during the driving period can thus be minimised. As fresh flowers are only loaded at freight centres in the evening and have to reach their consignees early in the morning, they are usually transported at night. The trucks are equipped with lifting platforms, making multiple stops in order to deliver successively.
