Toolstation, a British suppliers of tools, accessories and building supplies to the trade, home improvers and self-builders, has recently extended its contract with Howard Tenens for a further five years.

Adam Keates, Commercial Resources Director at Toolstation comments: “We continue to experience phenomenal growth, and therefore need a logistics partner who can meet the demands for flexibility and scalability required for our operation. Tenens have a proven track record delivering a high quality of service and take a pro-active approach to solving our logistics challenges, so naturally we were very happy to continue our working partnership. A big part of the service is the continuity of the management team who provide a personal service through working relationships cultivated over years of taking the time to understand our business. This has proved to be invaluable to the team here at Toolstation.”

Toolstation was established in 2003 and has recently been voted “Retailer of the Year 2016” by Which?. The company has seen extraordinary growth and success and expects to continue this impressive trend with additional Trade Counters throughout the UK.

The working partnership between Toolstation and Howard Tenens has gone from strength to strength, with a mutual ethos of continuous improvement delivering excellent service and ongoing cost reductions since the inception of the contract in 2009. The recent contract extension allows Howard Tenens to continue to support Toolstation’s growth, maintaining first class service levels and driving further cost reductions.

Tenens are developing a number of continual improvement initiatives, including investing in dock levellers at certain outbases, double deck trailers and development of the existing management team. Howard Tenens will continue to deploy their 15.65m trailers within the fleet for Toolstation, providing a 15% increase in trailer capacity, lowering the number of trucks needed on the road.

Matt Davis, Swindon General Manager at Tenens states: “Wrapping our vehicles in Toolstation’s livery and brand is just one of the many ways we are trying to improve our offering to one of our most valued customers. After a successful showcasing of our first fully wrapped truck at Toolstation’s Head Office we are hoping to have more vehicles follow suit by the end of 2016.”
