Logistics BusinessVersatile Truck Perfect For Urban and Rural Deliveries

The first ever Isuzu to join the Robinsons dray fleet is working on two extremes of distribution for Frederick Robinson Ltd, the Stockport based brewers. The Isuzu N75.190 is working both locally and regionally, handling deliveries of Robinsons’ ‘Dizzy Blonde’ cask beer, and other company products, to remote pubs in the Lake District and Cumbria, whilst also making journeys to tenanted and managed pubs within Manchester city centre, where commercial vehicle access is equally as limited.

Specified with a 4.2m curtainsided PPS Commercials body, this inaugural Isuzu rigid was chosen by Robinsons for its ability to carry maximum payload as well as for its smaller overall footprint that addresses many of the pub access issues experienced by the brewery.

“We operate on two specific routes where we have difficulty delivering our products with our existing vehicles. The addition of the Isuzu has eradicated these problems literally overnight. Up in Cumbria, we used to operate a two vehicle delivery service to certain remote locations, however the Isuzu can do the job of both these vehicles making this particular operation far more efficient now. At the same time, city centre pub locations in Manchester always prove difficult but again the Isuzu has given us a more flexible and efficient delivery service to these customers,” said Mathew Heath, Logistics Manager at Frederick Robinson Ltd.

Whilst the manoeuvrability and payload of the Isuzu has impressed Robinsons, its dray men are equally impressed by the vehicle’s overall performance. As Matthew Heath explains,” The manoeuvrability of the Isuzu has certainly helped them provide a more efficient service to these difficult locations however the drivers have commented about the overall performance of the Isuzu, saying that it is a really good vehicle to drive and has plenty of power so that it doesn’t struggle on the hills within Cumbria and the South Lakes.”

“All over the UK there are examples of breweries using the Isuzu 7.5 tonne rigid as an integral part of their distribution fleet servicing both rural premises and difficult access city centre locations. By operating its first Isuzu, Robinsons have instantly seen and benefitted from the Isuzu’s proven versatility in both extremes of location, whilst the payload capability will provide the brewery with long-term economies over its working life,” said Pete Murphy, managing director, Isuzu Truck UK.
