KNAPP celebrates apprentices’ success

Warehouse automation provider, KNAPP UK Ltd, has recognised the successful completion of apprenticeship training by employees Amy Coltman and Sam Haynes with a presentation ceremony at the company’s head office.

Amy, 21, and Sam, 23, have finished their four-year apprenticeships with KNAPP UK, undertaken at Leicester College and with KNAPP’s resident engineering team at the site of British Gas in Leicester. They were presented with engraved glass awards and framed certificates at a special event in the company’s offices near Aylesbury recently. Commented Craig Rollason, Managing Director, “Amy and Sam have worked extremely hard to complete their apprenticeships and have both proven to be a real asset to the team at British Gas. Their success and that of their predecessors – our two apprentices at Clarks – has led us to recruit a further two apprentices to join us from August this year.”

During their training period, Amy and Sam have both had several opportunities to visit KNAPP’s Apprenticeship Academy at its global headquarters in Graz, Austria. Amy has also travelled to KNAPP’s base in Leoben for training on server network diagnosis, while Sam took a course to become a qualified safety equipment inspector and now carries out the biannual inspections of harnesses at British Gas. As well as product training in Graz, they have both visited some of KNAPP UK’s other sites with resident maintenance teams – including John Lewis and Boots – for training and work experience.

Commented Roy Cheevers, KNAPP UK’s Site Engineering Manager at the British Gas facility, “We are very proud of Sam and Amy’s achievements. They have exceeded our expectations at every stage and have thereby acquired an extremely strong set of engineering skills, along with great confidence and effective communication.”

Sam Haynes wants to be a Field Service Engineer, while Amy Coltman, who won an ‘Outstanding Newcomer’ award last year in the Leicester College Apprenticeship Awards, has managerial aspirations.
