Automotive logistics specialist GEFCO Group officially inaugurated its Greek subsidiary earlier this month.

“As a company with a unique expertise in the management and optimisation of complex supply chains, we are happy to bring our expertise in integrated logistics as well as our ability to achieve short and long-term objectives in terms of economic performance, service level, and quality, to support our Greek customers’ development,” said Luc Nadal, Chairman of the Management Board of GEFCO Group.

In a statement, the company said: “By setting up a subsidiary in Greece, a country with dynamic potential in the region, GEFCO strengthens its footprint in Southeastern Europe, a region where the Group has maintained a presence historically. The country offers an ideal location between Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Greece is gifted with many competitive advantages, which make this country a perfect place for a major logistics player:
• Greece is the largest ship-owning nation, currently controlling 18% of the world fleet.
• The ports of Piraeus and Thessaloniki are regional gateways to South East Europe and Central Europe.
• Greece is launching and participating in many programmes aimed at the renovation, expansion and improvement of its infrastructure.
• Greek industrial production has shown constant growth in recent years, with leading companies in the food and tobacco processing, textile, pharmaceutical, chemical, mining, petroleum and metal production sectors industry.”
