Turkish company Ekol Logistics, a 3 PL supplier with companies in 15 countries, more than 5,500 trucks, 6 vessels, and 48 block trains per week, has announced plans for further investment in its Greek network.

“We have been present on the Greek market for 5 years now and our turnover in 2016 was €12M. For 2017 we are planning to exceed €15M. We not only support Greek importers and exporters to develop their business but we also support our economy,” said Dimitris Batakis, Country Manager, Ekol Greece.

Ekol in Greece employs more than 50 people who have experience in the logistics sector. The company has grown by 25% in turnover each year.

“Since Ekol entered the Greek market, investments in the country have amounted to around €5M. We are planning to invest more than €2M to improve facilities in the port of Lavrio and also to create our own fleet in Greece for national distribution, a project of around €1M, in the near future. The total investments when we celebrate ten years in Greece will be equal to our presence in the country,” added Batakis.

The company provides transports to and from Europe, mainly by road, with connections to more than 15 destinations, many achievable in 48 or 72 hours. Thanks to this short transit time, Ekol Greece helps in the growth and development of Greek entrepreneurs in today’s competitive environment.

“We are planning to offer also rail connection to Europe using the ports of Lavrio & Thessaloniki and connect them with the rail terminals in Aspropyrgos and the port of Thessaloniki. Also we have a weekly connection with Cyprus using our own units and we intend to expand in Israel using the ports in Haifa & Ashdod. The fact we will develop our services means advantages for our customers such as better transit time, more connections, more flexibility. This year we have received the Gold Award in the Freight Transport and Freight Forwarding category and I believe it proves our strategy is right,” added Batakis.

Ekol Greece is a fast growing company in Greece, located in Thessaloniki and Athens, in modern facilities of 6,000 m2 in the industrial area of Aspropyrgos serving contract logistics, international & national transportation. During 2017 Ekol says it will expand its locations to many Greek cities covering all inland sites in 24 hours with own network. The company also has an office in the port of Lavrio, near Athens, for its own vessel operations that connect Greece with Turkey and Europe through the port of Trieste in Italy.
