Culina Group In JV with Ireland’s Morgan McLernon

Culina Group, the UK provider of shared-user logistics services for food and drink companies, has entered a joint venture with Ireland’s Morgan McLernon, which came into operation earlier this week. The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
The joint venture is described as “a logical next step for both companies”. Due to the strong partnership between Morgan McLernon and Culina Group business CML, “it made great sense for Culina Group to bring Morgan McLernon into the family,” said the company in a statement.
With a turnover fast approaching £500 Million, a workforce of nearly 6,500 staff and a fleet of more than 800 vehicles and 2,000 trailers, Culina Group says it is fast becoming a significant market leader in the Food and Drink Chilled and Ambient Logistics Sectors in the UK and now Ireland.
“Morgan McLernon and CML have been working superbly well together now for several years and it really was the logical next step for both businesses,” Said Thomas van Mourik, Chief Executive of Culina Group. “This move significantly expands the geographical reach of our network. It will enable both organisations to improve services even further. We are acquiring some excellent contracts, a superb facility at Lurgan and a brilliant team of people.”
Following this joint venture Morgan McLernon is now the largest haulage operation in Northern and Southern Ireland.
