Logistics BusinessNetwork for Young Logistics Professionals to Launch at Multimodal

The NextGen Logistics Network, a new community of young professionals in logistics and supply chain, is to be launched at Multimodal on the 3rd May 2018. The initiative aims to build a network for the next generation of logistics leaders.

The new community will connect online via a LinkedIn group, and companies backing the initiative will pledge to host networking and information events, which will include facility tours to give members an opportunity to connect with peers and better understand the different sectors of the supply chain industry.

Peel Ports will host the first event, and will kick-start the initiative alongside Meantime Communications during two seminar sessions at Multimodal 2018, which takes place from the 1st to 3rd May at the Birmingham NEC.

Heathrow Cargo and Air Canada are amongst the other companies pledging support, with more to be announced at Multimodal.

“Multimodal provides the perfect platform to launch an initiative which has the future of our industry in mind,” said Robert Jervis, Logistics Portfolio Director, Clarion Events.

“To help give this network a boost, we will be focusing on the next generation on day three of the show by hosting two seminar sessions dedicated to young professionals and opening our doors to students.”

Peel Ports’ Commercial Director Stephen Carr, who will chair one of the two seminars, is also joining the judging panel of the Multimodal FTA Young Logistics Professional of the Year Award as part of the initiative.

The fourth Freight Transport Association (FTA) Multimodal Awards takes place on 1st May at the VOX Conference Centre. Nominations are still open for the Awards, which take place on the 1st May.

The NextGen Logistics Network will bring together members and companies from across all modes, as well as 3PLs, tech companies, and forwarders.

“The NextGen Logistics Network is unique in bringing together all logistics sectors giving our rising stars an opportunity to understand first-hand the opportunities and challenges across the entire supply chain,” said Emma Murray, Chief Executive Officer, Meantime Communications, who will also chair one of the seminars on day three.

“Members will be able to foster lasting relationships and build a more collaborative, forward-thinking, and ethical industry.”

Over 9,500 supply chain decision makers are expected to attend Multimodal, the UK and Ireland’s leading freight transport and logistics exhibition, now in its 11th year.
