Logistics BusinessEddie Stobart Training Academy Now Open to the Logistics Industry

Supply chain, transport and logistics company, Eddie Stobart has opened the doors of its dedicated training academy to the wider logistics and supply chain industry.

The academy was established in 2015 as an in-house facility to help attract and retain Eddie Stobart’s own staff. It has since been recognised as a leading facility by customers, suppliers and industry advocates, with increasing demand for its services to be offered to the wider market place.

Opening up its Training Academy also supports Eddie Stobart’s wider strategy to supply qualified drivers and warehouse operatives to businesses through their supply chain resource services.
Alex Laffey, CEO of Eddie Stobart, said; “Safeguarding the flexibility and agility of our industry is a responsibility we take very seriously. The supply chain is critical to the success of UK PLC and the skillsets required now for success are expanding as we adapt to key trends such as the rapid growth of e-commerce and customer demands for increasingly shorter lead times. We are proud to open the doors of our Training Academy, bringing new people into the industry and helping to redefine the benchmark for our sector.”

Designed to not only raise the overall quantity and quality of both new and existing talent within the supply chain, the Eddie Stobart Training Academy will run dedicated courses across the following areas:
• LGV driver licence acquisition (from category B to C and C+E)
• Legislative training (such as Health & Safety and Driver Certificate of Professional Competence courses)
• Specialist skills (such as crane operations and ADR transportation of dangerous goods)
• Warehousing systems and operational training
• Management development

The training is accredited by a range of external organisations including Scottish Qualifications Authority, Transport for London and ALLMI (Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers & Importers).
The state of the art facility is located at Eddie Stobart’s 60,000 sq ft head office in Appleton, Warrington.
