How has your most recent solution
advanced the automation industry?
KOEN
: Everyone needs to keep up
with the race in e-com. We’re seeing
now that smaller focused players
are interested in a higher level of
automation. One example was a
company who needed an innovative
system capable of efficiently sequencing
shoes by size and type into shipping
cartons. Our ADAPTO was the preferred
technology making this possible.
Let’s say I am an e-commerce
customer. What will your product
allow me to do that I can’t do today?
What is the benefit to my own
customers who are buying from me?
RUBEN
: Speed - your order lead time
can be reduced up to 30 minutes;
Reliability – your picking accuracy
can be improved up to 99.99%. Your
productivity can improve by up to 1000
lines per man hour plus you have full
control and immediate availability of
returned goods.
The advantage for our customers is
that we increase their competitiveness.
Logistics does make the difference in
e-commerce.
And the same questions in the fashion
sector, Koen?
KOEN
: Our solutions balance the
needs of the market with each
customer’s unique way of working.
This, in turn, drives the choice of
technologies to be used within your
system. If you are under strict parcel
partner cut-off times yet also want to
continue to offer a late final order time
for your online customers, the focus
will be on achieving a short order
lead time. A goods-to-man concept
with picking technology such as our
PICK@EASE system can streamline
your warehouse process to achieve
this. However, if your company is
rapidly growing, the focus will shift to a
highly scalable solution. An automated
storage/retrieval solution can easily
grow alongside your business. Another
option is to integrate a part of the
parcel hub into the DC sorting at
regional level, which allows for even
later cut-off times.
What is your average build and
implementation time for an
automation project?
KOEN
: This question has more than
one answer. It strongly depends
on the size of the total project,
used technologies and the size and
complexity of the software component.
In your opinion, what is the next step
change going to be in warehouse
automation and its associated areas?
When will this happen?
RUBEN
: The next big thing will be
Robotics. In our Food projects we
already use robots to automatically stack
pallets with different kind of products.
Collaborative robots working together
with people will be the next step.
