Logistics Business56 New Mercedes Vehicles For Advanced Supply Chain Group

Advanced Supply Chain Group (ASCG), an international logistics specialist, has invested £5.7million in its fleet with 56 new top-of-the-range Mercedes vehicles.

The investment is the latest positive news for the business and follows a strong first quarter that saw ASCG secure a number of new contracts, including several for leading retailers such as BHS International, Urban Outfitters and Decathlon. The new fleet underlines its focus on providing the most efficient and reliable service.

The Mercedez Benz Actros 6×2 tractor units will be fully operational within just a few weeks. The Actros unit is widely considered the ‘gold standard’ in terms of long distance transport vehicles, both in terms of technical aspects and cab features to make driving conditions as pleasant and relaxing as possible. In addition, the Euro 6 engine will save an annual three tonnes of CO2 in comparison to a first generation engine; precisely controlled technologies will ensure a lower overall running cost along with superior driveability.

ASCG worked closely with vehicle leasing provider, Hexagon Leasing, to further improve safety and driveability of each unit, incorporating additional components including VT Brake Safe, lane assist and chassis infills. Each unit was fitted with an array of advanced rear view, side and forward facing cameras to increase the view of the road and surroundings, keeping both driver and other road users as safe as possible. ASCG also consulted its network of drivers to ensure that the specifications ordered would, in their view, increase comfort and safety.

Further underlining its commitment to ensuring the most comfortable conditions for its drivers, along with its continued emphasis on productivity and performance, June will see the launch of ASCG’s inaugural ‘King of the Road’ initiative. One driver will get their hands on a black gloss unit boasting a host of added extras including a luxury bed and fridge. The premium cab will be given to the driver that tops rankings for customer service, driving style and fuel economy performance categories.
