Aganto keeps Constar 'on-site' with low cost temporary warehouse solution

PET plastic container manufacturer Constar is achieving significant savings thanks to a cost-effective storage solution from temporary building specialist Aganto.

Based in Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire, Constar is one of the largest suppliers of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic containers for conventional applications throughout North America and Europe.

Having previously rented off-site warehousing space to store materials and finished product, increasing volumes made this an increasingly expensive option, leading Constar to seek a more cost-effective alternative.

Recognising that an aluminium framed temporary building had the ability to meet its requirements at a fraction of the cost, Constar initially specified a 1,125 sq m unit from Aganto complete with lighting and speed doors enabling easy access. Aganto’s professional site management team took only a week to install the facility, enabling Constar to quickly begin reaping the benefits of a more cost-effective storage solution which also allowed the company to make the most of on-site space whilst maintaining complete control over its warehousing operations.

As Constar continued to experience high levels of demand, the company did not hesitate to hire a further 3,250 sq m unit from Aganto, finally adding a further 750 sq m extension to the first building, providing ample space to accommodate all of its storage and handling activities.

Aluminium framed temporary buildings are an increasingly popular solution, providing a highly cost-effective solution for companies who require extra space but who do not wish to commit major capital expenditure to new, permanent buildings. From basic canopies to fully-equipped, temperature controlled warehousing facilities, temporary buildings are not only quick and easy to install but, most importantly, can simply be given back if they are no longer needed.

Engineered in Germany, Aganto’s temporary buildings exceed the minimum structural integrities required for the UK, easily meeting BS 6399 for snow and wind loadings. Components fix together to form modular, flexible units that are amazingly robust, with a ten year guarantee on the frame, whilst being simple to transport, install, dismantle, adapt, and relocate.

Project manager at Constar International, Pat Atkinson, comments: ”Bringing all our storage in-house has made the whole process more manageable, and the option to choose a temporary over permanent build means the transition was made both quickly and with reduced costs.

“The cost savings we achieved were also almost immediate and have allowed us to invest in other areas of our business. We are definitely sold on the benefits of a temporary building over a more traditional permanent one.

“Aganto is one of the most proactive and helpful companies we have dealt with and made the whole process simple and straightforward with minimum disruption to our daily activities.”
