Palletline drives innovation with digital signature capture

An investment programme totalling in excess of £1M has seen palletised distribution specialists Palletline Plc successfully implement digital signature capture across the system in less than 12 months, with the stated objective of being the first network to be paperless at point of delivery by the end of May 2009.

In addition, Palletline has emphasised its focus on innovation as the first pallet network to roll out DSC into another European country, with the implementation of signature capture processes throughout Southern Ireland anticipated by the end of March 2009.

The majority of all deliveries in the UK are now being achieved using totally automated procedures accepted across the Palletline network, via a robust and reliable solution which is already yielding defined commercial benefits.

“Introducing signature capture gives us the potential to drive cost out of the business, with real benefits in terms of time savings, increased accuracy and instant access to information for our customers,” states Ken Hacking, Director at Bourton-on-the-Water-based Hacklings Transport. Jonathan Edge, Director of Edge Transport Ltd, agrees with this completely. “DSC is a facility our customers have come to expect from other forms of transport, and they appreciate the added value benefits now available to them through Palletline's implementation of this technology," he confirmed.

Paper PODs will be retained in a limited number of applications where customers require their own paperwork to be used.

Commenting for Palletline, Managing Director Kevin Buchanan underlined the organisation’s continued commitment to innovative and efficient working processes. “From the successful move to our new, quality-focused hub last year to the implementation of industry-leading business processes, the management team at Palletline is driving through innovations for growth and development,” he stated. “This latest improvement, stripping out hidden costs and giving access to more accurate information will provide real commercial benefits to both our Member Companies and their customers nationwide.”
