Raising monet for carers is a 24/7 operation for PALL-EX
Freight distribution is a 24/7 activity - so is caring, and that’s why this figure formed the theme for Pall-Ex’s latest donation to a charity that helps carers.
On July 24, £2,470 was donated by the Leicestershire-based freight network to the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, with the money being raised through Pall-Ex’s Penny-a-Pallet scheme.
Hilary Devey, Pall-Ex founder and CEO, first devised the scheme so that for every pallet delivered by Pall-Ex, one penny goes to charity. Hilary is now a patron of the trust and the money raised helps it to fund its 133 independently-managed Carers’ Centres, which cater for a total of more than 310,000 carers.
Pall-Ex managing director Adrian Russell commented: “Pall-Ex is committed to supporting the trust and we are delighted to be able to donate £2,470, which was raised in just a few weeks.
“It’s great to think that as goods make their way around the network, they are raising money for an extremely important cause.”
As well as the fund-raising support that Pall-Ex provides to the Trust, established by the Princess Royal, employees are positively encouraged to donate their time to helping out, with many taking part in befriending schemes or volunteering initiatives.
Adrian continued: “It has to be recognised that there are thousands of carers out there, many of whom are children, whose work goes largely unrecognised. We are only too pleased to do what we can by raising money, volunteering and highlighting the issue.”
