NYK Logistics (UK) puts PC World 'Roadmouse' through it's paces
NYK Logistics (UK) Ltd has taken delivery of PC World’s first ‘RoadMouse’ – a new aerodynamic trailer designed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Designed by Don Bur, the unique ‘teardrop’ trailer has been aptly christened by Britain’s largest specialist chain of computer superstores, to reflect its resemblance to a giant computer mouse.
As PC World’s national warehousing and distribution partner, NYK Logistics will be responsible for monitoring the performance of the trailer during the one-month trial period.
Using an estimated 10% less fuel, all vehicles will also run on biodiesel, delivering a significant saving on CO2 emissions relative to previous vehicles.
With its unusual shape, and both the trailer and a dedicated tractor unit liveried in distinctive PC World purple, the vehicle will be difficult to miss.
PC World’s Supply Chain Director, Graham Wilkie, said: “We work extremely closely with NYK to ensure that our distribution operation is, and continues to represent, ‘best in class’. The ‘RoadMouse’ is one of a range of initiatives designed to improve the efficiency of our supply chain, enabling us to better serve our stores and our customers and minimising the impact of our activities on the environment.”
