Waste-to-Energy Specialist Opens Logistics Terminal in Aalborg, Denmark

European waste-to-energy specialist Geminor, has opened a new logistics terminal in Aalborg Harbour. Set to play a key role in the company’s ongoing expansion in Denmark, the facility will be used for the import and national distribution of specialist waste fuels from England, Ireland, Scotland and Germany.
The 2500m2 terminal, which is now in full operation, will handle more than 30,000 tonnes of refused derived fuel (RDF) and solid recovered fuel (SRF) every year. The facility will provide high quality feedstock to energy recovery facilities across Denmark.
Commenting on the opening, Tim Andersen, Country Manager at Geminor, said: “Opening a new terminal in Aalborg Harbour is another significant milestone for Geminor. The development outlines our intent to further expand the business across Denmark which, in time, will see additional facilities developed in Copenhagen and central Jutland.
“As a company, we work with clients worldwide, helping to eliminate landfill waste by exporting RDF/SRF materials – making use of return load transport – and turning them into renewable power through a network of more than 70 energy recovery facilities. Having our own logistics operation in Denmark, alongside continuing existing distribution partnerships, will help to further expand our capabilities and meet growing demand for energy recovery solutions.”
Geminor first launched in Denmark in 2015, through the opening of a base in Sondeborg. Geminor plans further national expansion – signified by its new facility in Aalborg Harbour. Handling more than 1.2 million tonnes of waste fuels every year, the business continues to expand, driven by growing demand, new technology and changing consumer perceptions.
