Logistics BusinessUK Trade Association Launches Warehouse Space Brokerage Scheme

The United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) has announced the launch of MarketSpace – a new web-based portal that brings companies with warehouse space to fill together with those seeking storage and logistics services.

Unlike other storage space brokerage systems currently operating, MarketSpace does not charge a fee or commission to companies wishing to use the site to market the space they have to let. It is also entirely free to use for those searching for storage facilities.

“UKWA MarketSpace is a new and exciting development which is available exclusively to UKWA members as a membership benefit,” says Peter Ward, chief executive officer of the association. “Finding demand to fill space, particularly temporarily, is almost impossible if warehousing companies rely on their own sales teams alone. Now UKWA’s members can use MarketSpace to advertise their available pallet space to their target market at absolutely no cost.

“And, of course, for companies looking for additional storage space, finding a quality service provider in a geographically appropriate area with free pallet positions at the time they’re needed can also be less than straightforward.

“By providing members with an outlet to promote to their available space and giving companies – be they retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers or, indeed, other 3PLs, a web-based facility to find reliable storage facilities, MarketSpace really is a win-win proposition,” he adds.

MarketSpace has been designed to be simple to use with intuitive, easy to follow instructions making it straightforward for members to add information about the facilities they wish to promote. There is no limit to the number of sites that a member company can market at any time.
