Carbon technology specialist the Schunk Group has commissioned logistics software specialist inconso with implementing a warehouse logistics solution based on SAP EWM.

At its headquarters in Heuchelheim, Hesse, Schunk has started building a new €10 million logistics centre. With the implementation of powerful systems and system components based on SAP, Schunk will rely on homogeneous logistics processes for the production, storage and shipping of high quality carbon and ceramics solutions. inconso was tasked with the integration of a warehouse management system based on SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management). An important, decisive criterion for selecting SAP EWM instead of a proprietary system was its worldwide usability at the different Schunk locations.

Schunk provides a broad assortment of products and services in high temperature applications, small motor technology, rail technology, industrial technology, automotive technology and medicine and measurement technology. In light of future capacity increases, the new logistics centre will be equipped with a forklift operated pallet warehouse, multistory shelves for small parts, vertical tray lifts and a combined pallet and cart conveyor technology, all of which are controlled by SAP EWM. In the future, SAP EWM will also manage the production supply.
