KRAFT FOODS chooses STEF For the logistics of « Philadelphia » in France and Italy

KRAFT FOODS, global snacks leader, has contracted STEF, the leading European multi-specialist in cold chain logistics, for transportation and logistics services in France for its “Philadelphia” cooking and spread cheese.

STEF will support the business development in France of this new iconic product of the KRAFT brand, as it already does in Italy. Under this new contract, the French downstream transportation operations and related logistics services (reception, storage, order picking) will be performed on the STEF site in Bondoufle (south of Paris), the Group’s largest logistics site for fresh produce.

Launched in the United States in the 1880’s, “Philadelphia” spread has been marketed in Europe for 40 years (Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Spain…) and in France since April 2011 with various recipes adapted to French local taste.

Transportation and logistics services
The STEF Bondoufle site receives the goods from the German Fallingbostel factory. Storage and order picking of eight listed Philadelphia products, including the four launched in March 2012 (“Philadelphia” light plain and chives, “Philadelpia” salmon & dill, “Philadelphia” milka) and co-packing operations are performed in a temperature-controlled environment (+2 °C / +4°C).
STEF is in charge of the outbound transportation of goods from its Bondoufle site to retailers’ platforms within 24 to 48 hours.

STEF was selected under a tender launched in 2010 by the French affiliate of KRAFT FOODS (three components: logistics services, transportation, “customer service” outsourcing). STEF was selected for mainly five reasons:

Ability to deliver anywhere in France under 24 to 48 hours from a single site located in the Parisian region,

Specialized expertise in fresh food products (+2°C / +4°C),

Multi-manufacturer optimized and pooled solutions for downstream transportation

Reliability and quality support for start-up activity,

Implementation of a tailor-made “Customer Service”

The main tasks of the “ Customer Service » are: customer relationship and inventory management, order flow processing… STEF teams are responsible for managing the relationship with mass retailers on behalf of KRAFT FOODS (order processing and tracking). Orders are directly fed into the KRAFT FOODS SAP server on the STEF Bondoufle site.
To ensure traceability throughout the operation and monitoring of deliveries, STEF delivers an optimized logistics solution with its proprietary WMS and TMW tools. Exclusive web services for inventory tracking (e-stock, e-order, e-recall…) are also implemented.
