New Hyster pallet truck to pick from

Materials handling equipment manufacturer Hyster has launched a pallet truck with supplementary lift, which is designed to assist with manual handling when picking or replenishing stock at low levels.

“Staff shouldn’t have to bend and lift a heavy box from the bottom of a pallet and stack it on a shelf when a truck can do the work for them” commented Robert O’Donoghue, Senior Product Strategy Manager for Hyster Warehouse Products.

The recently launched Hyster P2.0HL pedestrian pallet truck includes additional lift of up to 780mm (to operator’s waist height), which makes it possible to raise a pallet to a desired working height in order to reduce the operator’s back fatigue and stress when lifting loads to and from a pallet.

“Hyster has recently been producing a greater number of custom designed pallet trucks with supplementary lift. The increased attention to operator focused solutions has led to a rise in demand and we are now offering the model as standard”. Manufactured in Italy, the new P2.0HL pedestrian pallet truck is based on Hyster’s latest high performance and energy efficient P1.8-2.2 range, delivering low cost of ownership.

Robert O’Donoghue continues “Pallet trucks are used for many purposes, such as the transportation and loading/unloading of goods, as well as for picking orders from low levels or for stock replenishment. We expect that many different types of business will see the benefits of the new pallet truck, which delivers faster performance and increased productivity from operators and assists with manual handling”.

The P2.0HL is a dual lift model with a 2,000kg capacity on the load arms and 700kg on the forks which elevate to approximately 780mm (800mm top of the pallet). “This is useful in supermarkets, home improvement (DIY) centres right through to high intensity logistics sites and many types of manufacturing operation” adds Robert.

In addition to the ergonomic features that assist with load lifting, operators benefit from the low mounted, long tiller arm that delivers low steering effort. The tiller head offers good grip and all directional, speed and lifting controls are within easy reach, ensuring that the operator does not need to remove his hands from the tiller while moving. Thanks to the creep speed button, the tiller arm can also be used in the vertical position, to achieve a compact turning radius.

Other features include a dash display with Multifunctional Display Indicator (MDI) displaying hour meter and battery discharge readings and a large, easily accessible, emergency disconnect button.

The powerful 1.2 kW AC traction motor delivers excellent performance with regard to speed, acceleration, deceleration and control of travel direction changes, providing regenerative braking. Hyster has also maximised motor and control efficiency with MOSFET controls to ensure low energy consumption and increased battery shift life.

The chassis design with reinforced bumper plate, fully enclosed compartment for a 24V / 200 Ah battery and metal battery box lid, welded fork (1190 x 570) profile and IP55 ingress protection results in excellent reliability and leads to less downtime. In addition, CANbus technology allows continuous feedback and fast communications between components improving troubleshooting through the driver diagnostic interface and providing early warning of maintenance requirements.

“We believe this model will have multiple uses throughout most warehouse operations, supporting businesses looking to improve performance and the working environment for operators” Robert O’Donoghue adds, explaining that the truck is available with numerous options including cold store and on board charging.

All Hyster products are supported throughout Europe by an extensive network of distribution partners.
