Geodis Calberson wins substantial new contract with global manufacturer
UK Company awarded three year contract by Donaldson Filtration (GB) part of the Donaldson Filtration Group
Geodis Calberson, part of the major international logistics group Geodis, has won a substantial new contract with a major global manufacturer of filtration systems.
Geodis Calberson will provide export distribution services and domestic UK services for Donaldson Filtration (GB) part of the Donaldson Filtration Group, a global leader in filtration solutions. The three year contract covers all UK and European road transport linked to Donaldson’s Industrial Manufacturing Plant in Leicester, one of the company’s 13 locations across Europe and one of its main European manufacturing plants.
The contract was awarded to Geodis Calberson after an e-auction involving all of the UK’s major logistics players.
Donaldson Filtration Group is a leading worldwide provider of filtration systems and replacement parts for customers in the industrial and engine markets, including dust collection, power generation, speciality filtration, compressed air purification off-road equipment, industrial compressors, heavy trucks and light machinery. Founded in 1915 it is a technology-driven company committed to satisfying customer needs for filtration solutions through innovative research and development.
Johan Rosquin, Traffic Manager Europe for Donaldson Filtration, based at the Donaldson European headquarters in Leuven, Belgium, said the company chose Geodis Calberson because of its obvious European reach, track record, professional reputation and the high quality of its customer service.
He said: “We have been very impressed by Geodis Calberson when they have previously provided us with services – particularly its consistent high level of customer service and European-wide operation. That level of satisfaction helped us to decide that they would make the best partner for the next three years.
“Given the global nature of Donaldson, we needed a partner that had the scale and pedigree to offer high quality international services for the next three years. Geodis Calberson has both the local networks and global capacity to deliver ideal solutions to our business. We needed a stable, responsible and internationally known company with credibility as our partner. One who will be here for the long term.
“Basically Geodis Calberson have proved to be compatible to our needs and there was a general feeling that we wanted to go with them. Their rates were compared and are competitive and most importantly we were satisfied with the personal contacts involved in their customer service provision at a local level. We compared this level of local customer service to the other companies in the e-auction and this was one of the key functions missing from the other candidates. There was a big difference,” he said.
“Geodis Calberson also proved that they wanted to invest in the future which is evident with the facilities they have been setting up in the UK. They have put in considerable effort and financial support in their own divisions and it is a growing company. They have shown us that the UK really cares”, he continued.
Geodis Calberson manage the daily collection of consignments for Donaldson Filtration (GB) from their Leicester manufacturing facility into all major European markets including France, Germany, Spain, Italy as well as Benelux, Eastern Europe and Ireland and also the UK through the Geodis owned Fortec Pallet Network and some deliveries on dedicated vehicles.
The contract is for the collection and delivery of up to 100 pallets per week.
Allan Ward, Regional Commercial Manager for Geodis Calberson in the Midlands commented: “We had been working for Donaldson for 18 months on a smaller basis and the customer had been increasingly impressed by the high levels of customer service and has the confidence of working with a company of the size of Geodis with our own wholly owned European network.”
Jamie Cuthbert, Managing Director of Geodis Calberson, said: “It is testament to the quality of our offering that we were chosen by Donaldson Filtration. We are delighted that our unrivalled customer service and our capacity to provide seamless UK and global solutions has won us this prestigious contract.”
Our finger is on the pulse of the industry.... here is the breaking news...
