CTL Logistics performance in 3Q09 - We are at our best
CTL’s market share has reached almost 10% after three quarters of 2009. The largest polish independent freight operator’s performance in terms of carried tonnage shows a 15% rise year-on-year. The Company’s representatives declare that CTL is currently at its best growth-wise and shall focus on maintaining the strong market position on the coming quarters.
CTL has carried 16% more tonnage in the IIIQ , equivalent to 4,2 mln t, whereas the transport effort has risen by 15% and amounted to 982 mln tonkilometres.
We have currently reached the maximum of our handling capabilities. The substantial rise of demand for our freight sevices this year means that we are basically operating at full capacity, says Krzysztof Sędzikowski, CTL Logistics President of the Board.
Moreover, the Company’s representatives do not plan any further significant investments aimed at augmenting handling capacities in spite of the current 100% train utilization. We see further economic and logistic services market declines next year . As we strive to adapt our offer to the market situation in the most effective way we do not foresee any expenditures on new trains. We will focus on maintaining current levels of carried tonnage unless the market starts to grow dynamically, Krzysztof Sędzikowski adds.
Artur Pielech, vice-President of the Board and Director of Sales and Marketing, draws attention to the fact that the Company’s current market share has been reached in a consequence of a consistent implementation of new solutions and an advantageous price-quality offer. Our clients confirm that we provide highest quality services and competitive pricing. It is natural that some transportation peaks do take place and result in forced rescheduling, but this kind of day-to-day operating changes are common among all operators in IVQ. Had we have more trains at our disposal, we could handle even 10% more shipments. It is true that in the second half of the year, we were not able to respond to a part of spot demand, as the need for our services was well above our capacities. Moreover, our attention has recently been focused on a couple of new projects: we have for example changed our operating model on Germany, which allows us to operate faster and more effectively on Poland – Germany routes. We have also invested heavily in the Piotrkow Trybunalski terminal, whereas in Bruzgi our coal transshipment terminal is being constructed. Overall, CTL plans for 2010 are mainly focused on transborder and intermodal services development, Artur Pielech resumes.
After three quarters of 2009, CTL carried 23% more tonnage-wise than in 2008 ( equivalent of 12,5 t ), whereas the transportation effort went up by 19% ( 2 765 tkm ). After three quarters of 2009, CTL remains the second biggest operator in terms of freight capacity in Poland.
