New trailers support growth

Microrent plc, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of IT and Audio Visual (AV) equipment to the events industry, has added Schmitz Cargobull Mega Dry Freight trailers to its fleet of vehicles.

Microrent supply a comprehensive range of high value IT and AV equipment – from Plasma screen televisions to sound systems. Their clients are companies who need such equipment to enhance a corporate event – be it a training session in one room, an exhibition stand at a major trade show or, perhaps, an AGM.

A critical part of Microrent’s portfolio is its added-value services which include transporting the equipment to the venue, hence the need for the new trailers.

Microrent had previously been running step-frame box trailers which allowed some 88 cubic metres of equipment to be carried, but the new Mega Dry Freight trailers have the capacity to manage up to 100 cubic metres of equipment.

In addition to the extra capacity they offer, the Schmitz Cargobull Mega Dry Freight trailers have a low chassis height and a flat floor, which makes them easier to load and unload than step frame models – a particularly important consideration in the entertainment industry where careful handling of sets and equipment are key customer concerns and the health and safety of loading crews is paramount.

The Mega Dry Freight trailers are constructed using Schmitz Cargobull’s patented Ferroplast Thermo Technology. The modular steel-skinned Ferroplast panels keep loads at the desired temperature which means that the problem of condensation which can build up in within single-skinned trailers or aluminum and fiberglass models during hot weather, is eliminated.
Jinny Lambert, managing director of Microrent, commented: “With the integration of our logistics business in 2007 we are one of the very few companies in Europe who can provide a true end-to-end solution – rental, delivery, installation and support. We needed additional trailers to keep pace with the growing demand for our services but we also wanted to modernise our fleet - the trailer market and the technology used has moved on and we want to keep pace. We chose Schmitz Cagobull for their build quality and, of course, value for money. The new trailers look fantastic and are a welcome addition to our fleet of vehicles.”
